National Voter Registration Day

ABC-2  (A Better Chance A Better Community) visited the RCRHA communities of Scotland Neck, Gaston, Enfield and Garysburg in an effort to "Turn Up The Count NC" and make sure that tenants were Vote-Ready by checking the status of their voter registration, registering individuals to vote and providing them with a NC Nonpartisan Voting Guide.  The guide provided early voting and candidate's profile information.  Families from all communities as well as some staff members welcomed the opportunity to check their voter registration status and registered to vote.

There was also a free food truck onsite in the Gaston and Garysburg communities that provided heavy refreshments to those in attendance.

Be Vote-Ready! Education about 2024 Elections

Residents were given an opportunity to:

• Update
• Check
• Verify their current information
• Register to vote in the upcoming current election in November

They also were given information on dates for early voting and locations to vote in their area.

The information sheet given to residents included the following information:

• Finding a Sample Ballot
• Remembering your Photo ID
• The three ways for them to vote: voting early in person - voting in person the day of election - voting by mail.

Partnering with ABC-2 was an awesome opportunity to communicate and inspire some of the younger voters to register as well and the residents that were home-bound had an opportunity to update and check their status and also register.

ABC-2 did have a food truck at all locations to entice the residents to come out. They had fried chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers with a bag of chips and drinks - FREE for all to enjoy!

The RAC members and FSS made sure the residents' information got checked and updated in the system on 2 of the sites: Gaston and Garysburg

For this event to be last minute - we had an awesome turnout!
